When it comes to eye make up these days I'm edging more and more towards the simple. If I can get away with a single colour swept over the lid and a touch of mascara I'm more than happy to walk out the door and a smokey eye has been no exception.
Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre have been calling my name ever since they arrived at counters in 2011. Originally the sheer pink shade Emerveille was on my wish list, but after many a swatch session I had to walk away with Ebloui. A rich, chocolaty aubergine with a hint of burgundy and an array of multi-coloured micro-glitters, I don't think a better colour colour possible exist for a one step smokey eye. I pat this all over the lid with fingers, then blend out the edges to a haze with a fluffy brush and continue layering all around the eye until the colour becomes rich enough. It could't be more straightforward. The formula is almost a mousse texture, but a lot denser. It glides on like a sheer powder, but does't take much to build up an intense shade.
Now it absolutely pains me to say this but after a few hours it does start to crease on me, even with a primer. Honestly though I can't help but forgive and forget as everything else about this product is just so incredibly beautiful. At £24 they're not the most easily purchasable of eyeshadows but I know I won't be able to stop myself buying another one (of four) in the future!

I've yet to try a Chanel shadow and this is beautiful. I would probably dismiss it in the pot as it looks very purple but once it's on and blended it looks so gorgeous, you suit it so much :)

I've been wanting to try more Chanel make-up, but due to saving for a house this hasn't been possible. I'm adding this product to my wishlist though for sure. It looks stunning on you.

This looks beautiful! Have had this on the wishlist for awhile now, may have to take the plunge!
The colour looks amazing on you, so effortless and classy, very pretty : ) Too bad it creased on you, oh well, most products do ^^ xx

Great review! Ebloui by Chanel has been on my wish list for absolutely ages.
All of the Illusion D'ombre's are gorgeous but I just love the depth this one gives to the eyes. Not so worried about the problem you had with creasing as I think that can look quite nice sometimes, kind of 'edgy' I suppose.
Wish I could do my eyebrows like you though!

Such a simple look, but absolutely stunning! I have the shade Illusoire in the Chanel's Illusion D'Ombres, though I'm thinking I might have to put Ebloui on the list too. I'm going to try using Illusoire as a single eyeshadow look for now though. I can be so lazy when it comes to makeup too, especially for work because sleep always comes first. :p A quick swipe of eyeshadow and a few coats of mascara and you're good to go!

Ohh what a gorgeous colour! I really need to experiment more with eye makeup, your tutorials always make me want to crack out some shadows. When it comes down to it I always just slap a load of eyeliner on and be done with it though, oops!
I've just written my first post about skincare on my otherwise non-beauty blog because of a recent, rather violent rosacea flare up. Would love anyone to stop by so we could share some tips of how to reign in the delicate yet firey beast!
