In-Flight Skin Rescue

Having only ventured on to a plane for the third time in my life this week I may not be the expert with it comes to all things flying, but one thing I do know is that it reeks havoc with my skin. On my first trip I donned a full face of make up not knowing that by the end of the flight and hours of recycled air later I'd want to pull my skin off it felt so awful. A lesson was sufficiently learnt and this time I came prepared.

August Favourites

August has drawn to a close in what seems like lightening speed so once again it's time to share with you my favourite products from the month. From a new ultimate shampoo/conditioner duo to a well loved oldie thats been given a revamp, see what I couldn't keep my hands off over the last four weeks below!

It's Your Prime - An Introduction to Smashbox

Smashbox is a brand I've always admired from afar, but having no counter to swatch colours and test textures I've never owned a great deal from them. All that's about to change however as recently the brand has been rolled out into larger Boots stores, making things a whole lot more accessible - oh how my bank balance weeps.

Mom Jeans

Another day, another item of floral clothing. I'm by no means a girly girl when it comes to style, but similarly with the trousers from my last fashion post I've been loving all things bright, flowery and printed. This bomber jacket* from She Inside is the perfect lightweight piece to throw on now it's getting a little colder and adds a bit of colour to an outfit, something I'm guilty of never wearing!

The Skin Recovery Facial

I've found myself taking a far more laid back approach when it comes to make up these days. No longer do I feel the need to be contoured, highlighted and lined to within an inch of my life and I've really been enjoying using minimal products for a simple everyday look. The same can't be said unfortunately for skincare.

Sequin Collar

Top: Glamorous*
Leggings: eBay
Shoes & Cardigan: New Look
Anklet: Acessorize
Cuffs: H&M

First of all, thank you to everyone that wished me a happy birthday yesterday. I had an amazing day with the people I love and got an even more amazing gift! These are a few quick snaps of what I'm wearing out tonight for a few drinks and some dinner with the girls from work.

I was sent this lovely mint green shirt by Glamorous and I've been waiting for the right time to wear it. The sequin collar detail really dresses it up and I absolutely adore the colour. I paired it with my faux disco pants from eBay and a big wooly cardigan for extra warmth which will no doubt end up being left in the car.

I've also been trying to get into the habit of wearing heels more even if they make me look like an awkward tottering giant. These ones from new look are somewhere between wedges and flatforms so they're not too high thank god, ease in slowly.

I hope everyone else has a wonderful evening. I'll be on the rosé!

Avène Micellar Lotion

Avène Micellar Lotion Cleanser and Make Up Remover £12.50

As much as I know we all hate taking our make up off at the end of the day, ever since discovering the absolutle holy grail that is Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleansing Solution I've actually come to enjoy it. A few squirts on a cotton pad, sweep over the face, cleanse and it's done. Much to my dismay however, last week I completely ran out of the huge 500ml bottle I got back in March. Not wanting to wait a few days for a new one to be shipped from my regular seller I went into Boots and found the Avène Micellar Lotion Make Up Remover. I had actually had my eye on this for a while after seening Tenneil's post about it. The word 'micellar' got me very excited because as of yet I'm haven't found any brands other than Bioderma and Taaj selling a remover that uses this technology to litterally dissolve away make up.

As for how Avène's offering lives up to the name, I can't quite say it outdoes Bioderma. It takes off all my foundation beautifully and leaves my skin feeling refreshed but not tight. It also dissolves away the majority of my eye make up, but I've been finding I need to use a second product to remove the last traces, where as the Bioderma takes everything away in one go.

In terms of availability this is a lot easier to pick this up from your local chemist that having to order online, but at roughly the same price you'd be paying for the Bioderma if you're looking to save this might not be the best option. I do still think it's a great product though and one that I'll definitely be using up!

This Week #24

01. Another week, another bad photobooth shot. I've barely had time to do anything interesting as it's been back to work for me and back to having zero free time. I've somehow managed to buy so much this week though (lets blame those lunch breaks) and have lots of new exciting beauty products to post about! I've also got a video about my Clarisonic and the products I use with it which I was supposed to upload today but forgot about, so that should be coming as soon as I have seven hours in which to babysit my computer while it uploads. Why is youtube so slow!?

02. I very scarily realised that in just seven short days I'll be turning the ripe old age of 20. I'm actually devastated to no longer be a teenager, 20 sounds so old! To celebrate becoming an old woman I've been thinking about getting my hair cut shorter as it's actually such a hassle to do anything with right now. Possibly something like Mollie King or good old Olivia P. but I'm pretty sure I'd get instant hairdressers-remorse. I've only ever had long hair and it's become a bit of a security blanket for me!

03. I actually started writing this post about an hour and a half ago, but I've been completely distracted looking at nail decals on eBay. For anyone that hasn't heard of them yet, they're basically like temporary tattoos for your nails, amazing! I may have just purchase every variation of these assorted cat ones!

May Favourites

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara, Topshop Flush Blush, The Body Shop Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz, Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation, Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum, Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, The Body Shop Vanilla Eau de Toilette, Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser

Once again, the end of the month (and then some) has rolled around and its time for another favourites video! I never know if I should embed these videos directly onto my blog or just put a link through to youtube. It's a little easier just to put the video right here but I don't want to blur the boundaries between blogging and youtube. Oh how I over analyse things! What do you guys think?

The Perfect Mint Jumper

Jumper: Hearts & Bows via Ark Clothing
Necklace: Forever 21

For a long time I've been looking for the perfect summer jumper (although that seems a little irrelevant now thanks to the horrendous rain). I was torn between the Topshop neon knits and something pastel, until I stumbled across this beautiful mint green waffle knit on Ark Clothing. I'm not even sure how I ended up there but everything on their site is amazing. I've got my eye on a quite a few things including the lilac version! It looks a lot more blue here than it does in real life for some reason, but its an amazing colour.

Today I've been back to work, real work that is. I get a lot of people asking me questions about working in beauty and how much fun it must be playing with make up all day but in truth its a lot less exciting and a lot more about selling and customer service that I think most people imagine. Although I probably shouldn't be saying this on the internet where anyone could see I'm getting a little tired of the early starts, late finishes and overall exhaustion of retail. In a dream world I'd love to be able to make a living doing what I feel most passionately about, which is talking about beauty, without having to necessarily sell it! I'm not quite sure what the point of this little ramble is, and I'm not trying to discourage anyone from working on a beauty counter but hey-ho, thats how I feel. I hope everyone else is having a lovely day!

Style Compare: Metallic Challenge

Jumper: Topshop*
Shirt & Shorts: New Look
Collar Tips: eBay
Necklace: Asos

I was asked to take part in Style Compare's Blogger Challenge for June, the theme of this month's being Metallic. I picked this gorgeous Topshop Dip Dye Foil Effect Jumper to style. Annoyingly you can't really make out the foil texture which actually makes it 'Metallic' so thats a bit of a fail right there. The jumper is going to be great for summer though as its a really lightweight knit. It was a bit chilly on the day I took these though, so I wore a sheer shirt underneath for a bit of extra warmth along with the eBay collar tips which I can't get enough of at the moment!

Style Compare asks a group of bloggers to take part in the challenge every month and you can see all their outfits here. You can also can vote for your favourite and if that happens to be me then thank you very much! Once the votes are counted at the end of the month, the winner will be given a £25 voucher to giveaway to readers. Hooray!

Shopping the Stash

This month has been a bit of an expensive one, due to moving and getting a little over excited in Ikea, so purchasing new beauty products has been a no-go. I thought it was probably therefore about time to 'shop my stash' and delve into the various draws, cupboards and old Glossy Boxes stuffed full of pretty much brand new products that had been forgotten about!

Things I Want This Week #07

1, 2, 3

01. I fell in love with this dress as soon as I saw it on Lucy's blog and am currently on a mission to make it mine. I don't think I've ever owned anything this red before but the hearts and the mesh and just pretty much everything about it make me drool!

02. Steamcream has been around for a while now and has various awards to its name, but I never really understood what was so special about it. It claims to be the ultimate moisturiser containing natural ingredients fused together with steam which can be used on the face, body and hands. If anything I'd buy it for the amazing little tins which it come in literally hundreds of designs. Its also available on BuyaPowa at the moment for as low as £8.95!

03. This ice cream necklace might just be the cutest thing ever if it wasn't for the price!
