In-Flight Skin Rescue

Having only ventured on to a plane for the third time in my life this week I may not be the expert with it comes to all things flying, but one thing I do know is that it reeks havoc with my skin. On my first trip I donned a full face of make up not knowing that by the end of the flight and hours of recycled air later I'd want to pull my skin off it felt so awful. A lesson was sufficiently learnt and this time I came prepared.

August Favourites

August has drawn to a close in what seems like lightening speed so once again it's time to share with you my favourite products from the month. From a new ultimate shampoo/conditioner duo to a well loved oldie thats been given a revamp, see what I couldn't keep my hands off over the last four weeks below!

It's Your Prime - An Introduction to Smashbox

Smashbox is a brand I've always admired from afar, but having no counter to swatch colours and test textures I've never owned a great deal from them. All that's about to change however as recently the brand has been rolled out into larger Boots stores, making things a whole lot more accessible - oh how my bank balance weeps.

Mom Jeans

Another day, another item of floral clothing. I'm by no means a girly girl when it comes to style, but similarly with the trousers from my last fashion post I've been loving all things bright, flowery and printed. This bomber jacket* from She Inside is the perfect lightweight piece to throw on now it's getting a little colder and adds a bit of colour to an outfit, something I'm guilty of never wearing!

The Skin Recovery Facial

I've found myself taking a far more laid back approach when it comes to make up these days. No longer do I feel the need to be contoured, highlighted and lined to within an inch of my life and I've really been enjoying using minimal products for a simple everyday look. The same can't be said unfortunately for skincare.

Things I Want This Week #03

Topshop Dress, MAC Harmony Blush, Asos Swallow Bag, Soap & Glory Juicy Peaches Lip Balm, Marc By Marc Jacobs Rose Gold Watch

01. I think we've all been drooling over the new Mary Katrantzou for Topshop collection and after seeing this dress practically everywhere I feel like I need it in my life. Unfortunatley thought the whole collection bar one scarf is sold out online and at £350 for this one item alone, I don't think my bank balance will quite stretch that far.

02. I've heard this is really great as a contouring colour. I usually use my Chanel Tan de Soleil but I find that if I haven't got a bit of fake tan on it's better off just used as a bronzer as its slightly too warm for my skin tone.

03. I saw this bag and immedietly thought it would be perfect for Summer. All these pastel colours and shorter lengths are really growing on me, even if I'll always be an Autumn girl at heart!

04. You should already be aware of my obsession with lip balms and when I see a new one I really can't help but want it. I hear this Soap & Glory one smells amazing!

05.I've been lusting after a Michael Kors watch for years now and recently I've been loving rose gold everything. I tried a few on the other day and as lovely as they were they all seemd so big and 'blingy' for my wrists! This Marc Jacobs alternative is just as pretty and looks a little smaller.

Outdoors

Jumper: New Look
Skirt: Miss Selfridge
Shoes: Topshop
Necklace: Urban Outfitters

Hi, meet my legs! I spent the weekend at my parent's house and took advantage of having a garden to take some full length photos. I've been wanting to show you this skirt properly for ages but my flat is far too lacking in space to do so. I wore it with the New Look slouchy jumper I talked about in this post which hasn't actually left my body since I bought it. I think its the perfect thin summer jumper that can be worn with anything from a midi skirt to rolled up jeans (which I actually changed into later in the day as it was so warm!).

I also tried out a sample of the new Estée Lauder Invisible Fluid and so far I'm loving it. Flawless coverage thats lighter than any other foundation I own. I might have to make a sneaky purchase when this is available in Boots!

A lot of people have been saying they'd like to see a few more outfit posts a week, which I'm working on! Do you prefers these type of posts? And is it better seeing them full length or my usual from-the-knees-up ones? I'd love to know!

February Glossy Box

Como Shambhala Invigorate Shower Gel, Dr Bronner Lavender Hand Sanitiser, Awapuhi by Paul Mitchell Wild Ginger Treatment Oil, Becca Beach Tint, BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow

Glossy Box Time again! I don't feel like people really enjoy these posts anymore and I don't really like doing them but I'll keep it quick and simple so you can see what I got. I think it's interesting to see all the different products people have been receiving over the last few months. All the boxes started off quite similar except for the odd colour difference here and there but now I'm finding there's a massive difference between the products in each one. I suppose that makes it a little more interesting to read about but at the same time a bit disappointing when you see a certain item you really like the look of and didn't get!

Como Shambhala Invigorate Shower Gel: Another shower gel to add to the Glossy Box collection. I seriously wont be needing to buy any myself for a few months. I wouldn't really say this is a 'beauty' product. It is nice and refreshing to use in the mornings though when waking up seems like the hardest thing in the world. It reminds me of the Original Source Mint and Tea Tree shower gel a lot. Tingly!

Dr Bronner Lavender Hand Sanitizer: I've become a bit of a germaphobe since working in retail and always carry around a little hand sanitizer with me. Unfortunately the smell of lavender gives me a headache so I don't thing I'll be getting a lot of use out of this. Again though, not really what I'd class as a beauty product.

Awapuhi by Paul Mitchell Wild Ginger Treatment Oil: I think this is my favourite product this month. I love using hair oils and to be honest find most of them do exactly the same job, no matter the price difference. I'll always be a Moroccan Oil girl at heart whether or not thats just down to unattainability and marketing ploys but this one smells and works just as good.

Becca Beach Tint: Finally more make up products! I prefer to get these over the body and skincare and I've been wanting to try Becca for a while now. I love using cream products as opposed to powders as I like to keep the radiance and glow in my skin. I got the colour watermelon which is a sort of naturally flushed rosy pink. It goes on really smoothly, not like some cream blushes that can drag away all of your make up underneath, and lasts a long time.

BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow: A little bit scared to use this one as it is literally just black. Great for a mega deep smokey eye I'm guessing but I don't tend to get that intense with my make up very often. Handy to have though!

The Body Shop Honey & Oat Mask

Honey & Oat 3 In 1 Scrub Mask - The Body Shop

I've been in the market for a new exfoliator for a while now and after a little browse on the The Body Shop website I decided that this natural Honey & Oat Scrub Mask sounded pretty interesting. I always seem to forget that they have a huge range of skin care as well as body products and as there happened to be a 30% discount code going around I couldn't really say no!

When my little package arrived I thought the honey would make it smell quite sweet, but it's actually the opposite. It almost reminds me of yeast or beer? Not the nicest of smells but still bearable. Unfortunately the word 'scrub' is quite misleading as there isn't really any graininess to this at all. I gave it a good scrub but was left a little disappointed. It feels a lot more soft and slippery than course and gritty like I expected it to be. However though, once I'd left it on for ten minutes most of the product had been soaked up and when I washed off what was left my skin felt really soft and supple.

I've been using it for a few weeks now and I've noticed a difference in how smooth my skin is and how well my make up applies after I've had this on for a few minutes. I still need to use an exfoliator as well so if thats what you're after this won't quite live up to expectations, but as a mask, one of the rare products that I don't actually use a lot, I really like it.

Has anyone else tried The Body Shop's skin care? Also I'd love to hear your recommendations for a good exfoliator!

This Week #16

01. My lovely Valentines chocolates which I managed to scoff in two days!

02. A beautiful little 'bits and bobs' shop we found today with some pretty decorations. I might have to cut up a few old dresses and make myself some flag bunting for the walls!

03. Followed that with the most incredible sandwich I've ever seen. It didn't even have two pieces of bread but it was amazing.

04. Finally got my hands on the Topshop eye ring I've been after forever. These things were going for over £20 on ebay when I found one in store for only a fiver!

05. Got my kindle all dressed up with a new case and skin. Love this egg blue colour. Hopefully this will encourage me to read more often instead of pinching Darren's iPad and looking at blogs all day! Currently loving Lucy, Jo, Sioned and Amy's!

Recent Buys

Shameless little filler post here as I've done nothing this week but work and shop. If you don't know already I do actually have a full time job so only having two days a week to get anything done blogging wise is a little tricky. I usually prepare a few little reviews and short posts for the week but thanks to a recent spending ban (that I might have accidentally broken today) I haven't really bought anything worth sharing!

These are a few bits I picked up frantically on my lunch break today. Half an hour to shop and eat is not enough so its usually one or the other! All the offers in Boots were ending soon so I took advantage of a few of those. A lot of the hair care brands were 3 for 2 so I finally caved and got the Lee Stafford Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner. I love my actual Moroccanoil versions of these but they're just too expensive to keep buying! Hopefully these will be just as good! I also got the Cashmere Cushion blow dry solution which is supposed to boof up your hair while still making is nice and soft. I've lost a lot of volume since growing out all my layers so I'll try anything thats going to give my hair that extra bit of body. Love the smell of all this too!

L'Oreal was also on offer at buy one get one half price so I got a lipstick and the Lumi Magique Primer from their new luminising range. I've been eying up Lancôme's Éclat Miracle for a while now and this is an absolutely perfect dupe for it. Considering Lancôme and L'Oreal are the same company it's probably exactly the same product in both! It's a little bit like High Beam but white instead of pink. I definitely suggest trying this out if you can find one because it is absolutely beautiful!

Had a bit of a Lush splurge as well. I always feel compelled to pick up everything I see when I walk in there and it doesn't help when the sales assistant is giving you a heavenly hand massage with nothing but a bar of soap. No wonder I buy everything they tell me to! I managed to get my hands on the limited edition Magic Mushroom bubble bar and then picked up some recent favourites; a few Butterballs and a King of Skin.

Last of all I went and got myself another slouchy knit jumper from New Look, not that I needed any more! It's very similar to the Topshop one I posted about in a recent wishlist as it's quite lightweight so great for either layering or wearing alone. Purchase justified.

Has anyone else been breaking their spending bans this month?

A Tartan Valentine

Dress + Shirt: New Look
Collar Necklace: Asos

Happy V-Day to you all! Darren managed to get the afternoon off so we took a little stroll around the shops, popped into Lush to pick up some limited editions and ate our body weight in Noodles at Wagamamma. Such a lovely day!

I've been after the perfect piece of tartan for a long time and as soon as I saw this dress I snapped it up. I think I subconsciously channeled Rihanna's X Factor look by adding a little white shirt underneath. Really love this Metal Collar necklace from Asos too. I've been wearing it under shirt collars, over tops, it pretty much goes with anything! Unfortunately this ones sold out now, but its still available in silver and I think I'll be buying that one too!

What's everyone else been up to today?

Top 5 Lip Balms

Benefit Dr Feelgood Silky Lip Balm, Carmex Moisture Plus in Peach, Figs & Rouge Coco Vanilla, Lush Whipstick, Blistex Relief Cream

01. I still can't believe this is being discontinued! Probably my favourite of them all, this lip balm is moisturising but not greasy and has a lovely glossy sheen. It came in a little set called Lipscription with a lip scrub which is brilliant too. Luckily there's so much in this tube I doubt I'll ever run out, but I'll still have to start using it sparingly.

02. I used to use the original Carmex all the time but couldn't put up with the horrible taste and smell any more. These sitcks are quite new but they give the same amazing moisture along with a subtel tint of colour. This one is quite pinky even though its supposed to be peach but its the perfect your-lips-but-better colour.

03. Already featured in my January Favourites, this Fig's & Rouge balm is like Vaseline without the greasyness. Smells amazing too and comes in a huge range of different flavours.

04. I've gotten so into Lush at the moment it's becoming a little obsessive. This is mainly thanks to Charlene's brilliant little series on all their best products, one of which was the Whipstick. It's a gorgeous balm with real Belgium chocolate in it! This one's great for making your lips unbelivably smooth and leaving barely any residue on them.

05. The one and only, Blistex Reliefe cream. Smells and tastes horrible and leaves a white cast on your lips that will make you look like you're freezing but it really is the best thing for really dry, chapped lips. I wear this overnight and it does wonders!

This Week #15

01. Our beautiful hotel room in Bournemouth / 02. 'The Bucket' of hot chocolate bigger than my head in Costa / 03. Nothing
better than making your way through a thick stack of new glossies / 04. Candles and a Butterball, the perfect combination / 05. Three course meal at Ikea for only £7.00!

PS. Obsessed with how cute the limited edition Magic Mushroom bubble bar is after seeing it's own adorable little video. Need to get to lush by Tuesday before they're all gone! On the other hand it is Valetine's Day soon and I know a certain someone is reading this...!

Things I Want This Week #02

Diptyque Philosykos & Vetyverio, Asos Tooth Necklace, Asos Band Rings, New Look Aztec Shorts

01. These two might be slightly odd to have on a wish list as I've never actually smelt them! I've been seeing them pop up a lot on Tanya Burr's favourites in the last couple of months and it was on her recommendation that I found my favourite perfume of all time, Chanel Chance eau Fraiche, so I trust her opinion a lot! I think these fragrances look quite elegant as well, and what's one more to add to the ever mounting collection!

02. A cheaper variation of the Galibardy tooth necklace I've been wanting for a while which is now sold out on the UK website! You can always trust Asos for a less expensive knock off!

03. Speaking of Asos knock offs, we've all lusted after the hopelessly priced Maison Martin Marrgiela knuckleduster-esque rings at some point. Now we can have them on our fingers for a mere £8.00!

04. It seems like so long since I wore shorts but as I was browsing through a few websites today these really stood out to me as being the perfect pair for Summer. Can't believe I'm saying that while looking through the window at snow!

Feel Unique Beauty Box - February, The Final Edition

Jean Paul Gaultier Kokorico Eau De Toilette, NUXE Huile Prodigieuse OR Multi-Usage Dry Oil, Elemis Lime and Ginger Hand and Body Wash, Philip Kingsley Maximizer, Decleor Phytopeel Face Peel Cream, Leighton Denny High Performance Colour Nail Varnish

I was so gutted yesterday when I received an email from Feel Unique stating that February's beauty box would be their last after canceling the service with immediate effect. Every month I've been impressed with practically every product I've received and without a doubt would say this has been my favourite of all the boxes!

I think this specific box really sums up Feel Unique, with items that are not only from well known brands, but generously sized and interesting too. My favourite product has to be the Maximizer from Philip Kingsley, a brand I'm quickly becoming obsessed with! I love the Elasticizer (another product first discovered through Feel Unique which has improved my hair so much over the last few months) and the Maximizer lives up to the same high standards. I've been spraying it through my roots before blow drying and it gives the most amazing weightless lift.

The other products are lovely as well though. The Elemis body wash smells divine and I'm really impressed with the colour choice of the Leighton Denny nail varnish. I've been using the Decleor Phytopeel too, an odd combination of a exfoliator and mask in one which has really improved a few dry patches I've had on my skin recently.

RIP Feel Unique box, you will be missed!

The Colour Orange

Dress: Primark

Little snippet of an outfit I wore today. This dress is really flattering and simple to wear so pretty much a bargain for only £10. Obviously it was too cold to go outside in nothing but this so I threw on a big jumper and my go to coat and collar combination at the moment which you can see here. Getting a little bit tired of the bitter weather we're experiencing right now. It either needs to snow or get warmer!

OPI Rainbow Connection

O.P.I Rainbow Connection

I've been lusting after this beautiful glitter polish for a long time now and after seeing it pop up everywhere recently I decided I had to cave in and buy it. I struggled to find it online anywhere and had to resort to eBay in the end where I paid around £10 with postage so it worked out to be a little cheaper than the original price. Looking at it now though, I know I'd pay that for it!

The only way I can describe it is as a true rainbow colour. Red, orange, green.. you name it, it's in there! I like to layer it over the top of something neutral like Ciaté's My Fair Lady or my new favourite Essie polish, Topless & Barefoot so that it's all about the colours of the glitter. It also makes for a perfect accent nail.

I'm thinking of buying a backup for this as I'm pretty sure like most OPI collections the Muppets one, which this is from, is limited edition!

Little Weekend Haul

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, MAC Cleans Off Oil, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, The Body Shop Cocomania body Butter & Lip Balm, Lush Sweet Lips Lip Scrub, The Body Shop Vanilla Eau de Toilette

I've had the most lovely weekend! We took a little spontaneous trip to Bournemouth last night and stayed in a really beautiful hotel right on the sea front. Needless to say we didn't take a dip due to the arctic climate England seems to be experiencing at the moment, but we did have a good old nose around the shops. Got a cosy jumper in the Primark sale for a fiver and the most adorable little cropped t shirt. Cats and scalloped edges? How could I have said no?

I got a little over excited in Beales after seeing there was a MAC counter, the next nearest being in London. Everything was 10% off so I decided to betray my holy grail Collection 2000 concealer and try out Pro Longwear for a change. I got a cleansing oil too which is unbelievable. I probably would have bought more if the MUA hadn't been super over the top and touchy feely. I don't think I've ever actually come across a normal MAC assistant?

I picked up the Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser because I've heard good things about it and my skins in such a state at the moment I just wanted something as light as possible. It's actually a really good coverage and feels totally weightless. Really like the Lush Sweet Lips Chocolate and Vanilla Lip Scrub too which after only one use has made my lips so smooth!

Last of all, if any one has a Body Shop near by I strongly urge you to go take a look at their new Chocomania collection. It. Smells. Amazing! Like real chocolate but better, and the scrub looks good enough to eat. I might have gone a little over the top and bought the whole range!
