In-Flight Skin Rescue

Having only ventured on to a plane for the third time in my life this week I may not be the expert with it comes to all things flying, but one thing I do know is that it reeks havoc with my skin. On my first trip I donned a full face of make up not knowing that by the end of the flight and hours of recycled air later I'd want to pull my skin off it felt so awful. A lesson was sufficiently learnt and this time I came prepared.

August Favourites

August has drawn to a close in what seems like lightening speed so once again it's time to share with you my favourite products from the month. From a new ultimate shampoo/conditioner duo to a well loved oldie thats been given a revamp, see what I couldn't keep my hands off over the last four weeks below!

It's Your Prime - An Introduction to Smashbox

Smashbox is a brand I've always admired from afar, but having no counter to swatch colours and test textures I've never owned a great deal from them. All that's about to change however as recently the brand has been rolled out into larger Boots stores, making things a whole lot more accessible - oh how my bank balance weeps.

Mom Jeans

Another day, another item of floral clothing. I'm by no means a girly girl when it comes to style, but similarly with the trousers from my last fashion post I've been loving all things bright, flowery and printed. This bomber jacket* from She Inside is the perfect lightweight piece to throw on now it's getting a little colder and adds a bit of colour to an outfit, something I'm guilty of never wearing!

The Skin Recovery Facial

I've found myself taking a far more laid back approach when it comes to make up these days. No longer do I feel the need to be contoured, highlighted and lined to within an inch of my life and I've really been enjoying using minimal products for a simple everyday look. The same can't be said unfortunately for skincare.

August Favourites

Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser: This is still one of my favourite cleansers to use when I find I'm getting a breakout or a few blemishes. It's not harsh or drying like the majority of products targeted at acne and especially when used with my Clarisonic I find this clears up my skin in no time at all.

Liz Earle Skin Repair Light Moisturiser: This moisturiser had been forgotten about in the back of a draw for too long but after recently rediscovering it I've found it's the perfect balance between a light moisturiser that wont become oily on my combination skin and one that hydrates too. And really, who could say no to anything from Liz Earle?

Clinique Super City Block SPF 40: This has been a constant in my skincare regime for the last few months. I like to use a high SPF even if it isn't remotely sunny as those nasty UV rays are still out there! Usually the higher the factor, the thicker the product is but as this is oil free it glides on so smoothly and gives the perfect base for make up.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask: My go to mask at the moment. Although my skin can be oily, I still find I get dryness so I like to use hydrating products every now and then. Every time I wake up after using this my skin feels plumped and glowing. You can also read a full review of this here!

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil: The concept of shower oils is lovely. They begin as a rich silky oil that turns into a creamy milk as soon as it touches water. I had to buy this after seeing Anna raving about it for so long and I'm very glad I did as it leaves my skin silky soft without even having to moisturise.

The Body Shop Chocomania Body Scrub: A product from quite possibly the best smelling range The Body Shop have to offer. Think melted chocolate, and then some. Not only does this smell amazing but its also a lovely scrub.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation: I'm becoming quite obsessed with Laura Mercier bases. This is without doubt my favourite foundation at the moment and for a foundation addict like myself just the fact that I've used this pretty much non-stop since buying it should say enough! It gives such a beautiful, flawless coverage and smooths over any pore, big or small. Its literally like buffing silk into your skin. Everyone needs to try a sample of this right away!

Benefit Dallas Powder: This has probably been my most used cheek product all month mostly down to how convenient it is. The colour is perfect to be used as blusher and bronzer in one and it really does last all day on my super blusher absorbent cheeks.

Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder: I think I'm even shocked myself that a powder has made it into a list of favourites. Overly matte skin is probably my biggest make up hate but after seeing so many people go on about how nice this actually was this inner bandwagon-jumper in me had to try it and I was actually really surprised. I still don't use a lot but it sets my make up perfectly without being cakey or drying at all.

Essie Bikini so Teeny and Fear & Desire: Its very rare for me to take off a nail varnish only to put the same on back on again and these two from Essie's newest collection haven't left my fingertips all month!

Chloé Eau de Parfum: The only fragrance I've been wearing recently. Such a unique smell that I just can't get enough of.

All Black

Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Jacket: Clothing at Tesco
Socks: Topshop
Scarf: Vintage
Boots: Primark
Cuff: New Look

I didn't realise how much black I was wearing today until I took these photos! Reverting back to my teenage years again when everything I owned was either black or grey. Happy child!

I love the crochet (is that right?) on the shoulders of this dress. Not your average Dorothy Perkins find! I've also got really back into wearing a leather jacket. Such an easy thing to throw over any outfit.

Today I did some last minute shopping for Spain newt week. Believe it or not this will actually be my first proper holiday abroad and my first time on a plane. Yikes! It's quite weird buying summer clothes when the shops are already full of the autumn collections. Luckily though most if it was in the sale. Bikinis for a pound in Primark, hooray!

Warehouse AW/12 Wishlist

1, 2, 3, 4

I don't think I can put into words how excited I am that Autumn is just around the Corner and that the season of chunky knits, layering and deep colour palettes will be here soon! It has to be my favourite time to dress for and although we're only half way through summer, supposedly anyway, I'm longing for all things warm and already becoming bored of dresses and bare legs. Warehouse have just unveiled their beautiful AW/12 collection along with a cute video campaign (which you can see below!) and there are so many pieces I can't wait to get my hands on and the ones above are some of my favourites!

Think Pink

Top & Belt: H&M
Jacket: New Look (old)
Skirt: eBay
Shoes: Clothing at Tesco
Watch: Michael Kors MK5128
Nails: Essie Bikini So Teeny

I wore this outfit to dinner and a movie with Darren the other night. Went to see Ted which was funny but pretty much just like watching an hour and a half long episode of Family Guy.

Its been so hot at the moment, even in the evenings so trousers or tights are a no go but its still not quite that warm for bare legs. I bought this skirt from eBay for my holiday a while ago but never got round to wearing it. I've never actually gone for the maxi trend but I think its kind of growing on me now!

I had a browse of the new Essie collection in Boots this week and picked up a few colours. This is Bikini So Teeny which I think might be fast becoming the next Mint Candy Apple? Its a lovely slightly lilac pastel blue with the tiniest hint of shimmer running through it which you can only really make out in the bottle. When it comes to nails varnish I seem to be heading right for the Essie stand and no where else these days!

Things I Want This Week #10

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

01. There have to be a thousand versions of this coat across the higstreet at the moment from Zara to Primark. I quite like the look of this River Island offering though after seeing it beautifully styled by Lily.

02. I've got quite a thing for River Island at the moment and their new(ish) range of cheap little jewellery pieces are all adorable. These cross earrings are my favourites.

03. First I was obsessed with collar necklaces, now its actual collars! I think this crisp white collar would add so much to even the most plain t-shirt. I've also been eyeing a lilac studded version from Champagne Diamond.

04. Still in love with Origins and still craving this night cream. I still have a tub and a half of Benefit's Total Moisture to use up (even though its lovely!) before I can allow myself to buy this. Sad face.

05. It's that time of the year once again when I'm after the perfect pair of winter boots. I might just cave and actually buy the Office Nighthawks as they are ridiculously beautiful after all!

This Week #26

My week away has been lovely. I've done nothing but relax, eat and relax some more! I've even managed to blog pretty much every day which for me (with possibly THE most sporadic posting schedule) is quite an achievement. I hope everyone's had just as good a week and it's back to the real world now!

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask - £20

When I first walked up to the Origins Counter in my local John Lewis a few weeks ago, I was desperately after the Drink Up 10 Minute Mask. Unfortunately they didn't have it in stock, but being the impatient and impulsive person that I am I had to walk away with something so the assistant recommended my the overnight version. I was a little bit miffed but after using this for a few weeks I'm so glad I went away with it instead!

My skin is bordering on the oily side, but I still feel I get tightness and dry patches in places so I prefer using really moisturising treatments to heavy creams. I've been using the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask instead of my moisturiser about twice a week and waking up with glowing, radiant skin thats fully moisturised and not at all greasy.

The mask is quite rich but it glides on very easily. I like to put as thick a layer as I can on and wait about half an hour for it to sink in before I go to bed. It smells delicious too, kind of fruity thanks to its lovely natural ingredients such as rose water, sweet orange oil and blackcurrant seed extract to name a few.

I also thinks its quite good value for money for a high end skincare product at only £20. I'd probably pay double for it though as I absolutely adore Origins! Everything from their philosophy to the fact that they're a skincare based brand pulls me in. Surprisingly though this is only my fourth purchase from them but after the success of this mask I don't think I'll be able to say no. Next on the list is the Night-A-Mins moisturiser or the Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask, I can't decided!

Have you tried any Origins products? What are your favourites?

The Vintage White Tee

Top: Charity Shop
Jeans: Primark
Necklace & Bracelets: Welsh Market Stalls
Watch: Michael Kors MK5128

Okay, so slapping the word 'Vintage' on something I found in a charity shop might sound a little pretentious, but "The Help the Aged White Tee" didn't quite have the same ring to it.

I used to root around in charity shops relentlessly when I was younger and ahem, slightly poorer. As much as I love the high street there's something exciting about finding a beautiful piece of clothing that you wouldn't necessarily see in the shops, for only a few pounds. This little white embroided number has the perfect loose fitting, light weight feel and it isn't even see through. Winner in my eyes.
