This Week #45

01. Iced raspberry Tea with a slice of lemon is the perfect Spring drink | 02. Coca Cola's marketing team are geniuses. Even if they spelt my name wrong. | 03. Homemade spinach and mozzarella pizza | 04. The infamous River Island knuckle rings and Rimmel's Rose Libertine | 05. When I found out Origin's had launched a Ginzing moisturiser it was in the basket and ordered in under a minute.

The Spring Edit #2: Fragrance

Although the Spring weather seems to be wavering slightly in England lets cheer ourselves up with the seconcd part of my Spring Edit and four lovely perfumes that make me think dreamily of blue skies and short skirts.

Not Quite A Spring Skirt

Hold the phone, whats that? A bare leg? Well a bare ankle at any rate. After a burst of Spring sunshine the Winter clothes were officially shelved and I'd started to hang some fancy florals and dare I even say the word.. shorts in my wardrobe. Unfortunately I must have jinxed it as were now back to grey skies and thick jumpers.

Skincare Extras

My skincare routine has become a very basic one recently and I've been enjoying using just a handful of products that suit my skin well. There are still a few things however that I like to incorporate in every so often to keep it in tip top condition and smooth out any problem areas. From masks to extra cleansing tools, here are my skincare extras!

A Simple Sunday Pamper With Neom

Sunday for me is the epitome of a chill out day. I like to take it easy and get myself mentally prepared for the week ahead and nothing does this better than treating yourself to a Sunday pamper. I've gone into more depth in my previous Sunday Series with some no messing about hardcore preening, but sometimes it's nice to take a more simple approach.

Christmas!

A quick post to say hello and Happy Christmas! I've been home for the last few days and therefore slacking on the blogging front. Can't really motivate myself to do anything but sit around watching Christmas specials and eating more chocolate than any human being should! I've been beyond spoilt this year and thought I'd share with you a few snaps of what I was given, including the gorgeous naked palette which I've been wanting for months now and some other lovely bits and bobs. I know there's going to be hundreds of these kinds of posts but nosey me loves them so I'm sure some of you will too! I hope everyones having a lovely time and I'll hopefully be back to posting soon!

Candy Cane

Models Own Snow White, 17 Risky Red

After becoming a little obsessed with stripey nails thanks to the nail wraps I got in November's Glossybox I decided to get a little festive with some candy cane inspired nails. Just add one tacky christmas jumper and voila! Really want to try some Dainty Nails inspired fair isle print but I don't think my artistic capabilities extend quite that far.

This Week #12

This week has been a pretty cosy one. I've been tucked up in bed with my regular christmas flu which has (fingers crossed) almost gone now ready for the big day! Highlights of the week include me finishing my first MAC palette, sad little achivement I know. I found a few eyeshadows going on a blog sale for £5.00 each so I decided it was time my poor single little eyeshadow should have some company. From left to right, they are: Mythology, Woodwinked, All That Glitters and Cranberry. I caved and bought the Korres lip balm I mentioned in my last Wishlist too. Its really moisturising and smells delicious! Gives a really lovely pinky tint to the lips too.

The weather's been so awful this week I've been so glad I've stayed at home. So much rain! I wish it would just snow already. I've gotten really into lighting candles at the moment. There's nothing cosier than sitting in a room with a few glowing candles and a fully lit christmas tree. After hearing so many people mention it I really want to get the Christmas Cookie one from Yankee. Aslo found my first Christmas present under the tree. Exciting!

And of course, to finish, the obligatory hot chocolate of the week shot. This time with marshmallows.

Across The Universe

Top: This Fashion Is Mine
Skirt: Dorothy Perkins
Bird Skull Necklace: Covet

I've been itching to get my hands on this top ever since Gwen posted about them on her blog about a month ago, and after a few frustrating out of stock moments I managed to get my hands on one! It reminds me a lot of the iconic Urban Outfitters Leopard Cross Tee that I've been pondering over for a while now, but with a galaxy twist that I think I prefer.

I tried it on with the standard black denim shorts/skirt, but thought I'd mix it up a bit with this mustard midi and my Allegras, which I haven't worn in so long! I've been into the longer length skirts recently as they're a bit cosier in the cold. Just need to master taking full length shots now!

Wishlist #08

1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . 5 . 6

01. My favorite from the Model's own Beetlejuice collection. It was between this and Pinky Brown. Not sure if I like any of the others though. Also, could then not have given them better names?

02. I've heard this stuff is amazing and I've always wanted to try something from Korres. You can never have too many lip balms!

03. How good do the Topshop nail art pens look? They seem to be more of like a felt tip than a nib that the polish comes out of, like the Models Own WAH ones. Really want to try these!

04. Love all these slipper style shoes around at the moment, especially the much coveted Topshop Vectra's which seem to be sold out everywhere. These River Island leopard ones would make a good substitute though.

05. I never wear bracelets but I saw this dainty little cross bangle on Asos the other day which I've been thinking about buying all week.

06. A little bit of a guilty pleasure, and I have no idea what I'd wear with them, but I DESPERATELY want some aztec leggings!

Cleansers: Best and Worst

Cleansers! I can't seem to get enough of them. I think they're up there with foundations as my most purchased items. I've bought some that I love, and some that have just been a complete waste of money, so I thought I'd share the best and worst with you.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish: I don't think I need to go into too much detail with this one. I've mentioned it in a post before and everyone and their mum seems to have raved about it. I've tried a lot of other hot cloth cleansers thinking they'd be just as good, but nothing really compares to this one. It smells beautiful and although it's a thick, creamy cleanser, it leaves skin unbelievably refreshed and takes away every scrap of make up!

Botanics Soothing Cleansing Balm: This is similar to the Liz Earle as you wipe it off with a cloth soaked in warm water, but as the name would suggest,it has the consistency of a really thick balm, something I've never come across in another cleanser. You massage it on and it melts away any make up and impurities on the face and leaves skin super soft and radiant after its polished off.

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap: In the mornings I prefer to use more of a lathering cleanser to really wake up my skin and the Liquid facial soap is one of the few I've found that doesn't dry out my skin. It takes away everything without leaving that horrible tight feeling. Really need to buy a new one of these as I'm down to squeezing out the last of a sample tube!

And on to the worst...

Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Cleansing Lotion: I bought this thinking it would be a really quick and easy cleanser to pop on a cotton wool pad and take everything off. However, when I tried it it basically did nothing. It was heavy, smelt horrible and didn't take off any of my make up leaving my skin feeling anything but refreshed. I never really understood cleansers that aren't used with water and after trying this I'll be staying away from them in the future.

Burt's Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser: I had such high hopes for this as I love Burt's Bees as a brand and had heard a lot of good reviews. But when I used it, it didn't lather up as I expected it too and just felt sticky and oily on my skin. It was hard to wash off as well and left my skin with a really greasy residue that wouldn't come off until I exfoliated it away. I was so gutted because it smells heavenly, but it just didn't do anything for me.

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Foam: I'm really on the fence about this cleanser as I do still use it occasionally. A few months ago my skin got really awful and I invested in the whole Anti-Blemish range from Clinique. After about a week of using them though, it was even worse. I have quite oily skin most of the time, but it was becoming dry and flakey, and the blemishes weren't even much better. I stopped using it right away and my skin went back to normal and actually cleared up on its own. Also, because it comes out as a foam, there was nothing substantial to it and it pretty much just dissolved away. Because of this, I really don't believe spots and blemishes should be treated with really strong and abrasive skincare that's designed to strip every last drop of oil away. In fact, I've found that adding oil to my routine helps even out the tone and imperfections better than something acne-targeted. I do use this every now and then for a few days after my Cleanse & Polish if my skin is becoming overly oily but I wouldn't reccomend this as a main cleanser.

This Week #11

01. Went a little Christmas mad this week. If you follow my twitter you might have seen that my tree went up well before December. Its my first Christmas away from home and I've spent all week decorating our flat with as many lights as possible. No doubt the electricity bill is going to be astronomical this month.

02. Rediscovered my love for profiteroles at Pizza Hut, after a long day of shopping. Stuffed my face so much I could barely walk to the car. Gotta love eating double your weight in pastry and cream.

03. I've wanted a Casio style watch for ages, and saw this one on Asos a while ago. Annoyingly when I went to buy it it was out of stock. Isn't that the worst thing? Luckily though as if it was meant to be I found it going on eBay for half the price. I've had a few comments about it being a little 'bling', but I love it!

04. My hands have been so dry and chapped ever since it started getting colder and most of the hand creams I own haven't been making much of a difference. I saw Fleur mention the Banana version of this in her Winter Skin Saviours post and popped in to boots fully intending to buy it when I casually tried this Almond and Beeswax hand cream next to it and fell in love. I don't think words can describe how good this smells! Like sugary sweet marzipan. Its very thick and greasy, but left my hands super soft and nourished. I've been putting a thick layer on over night and waking up with chap free hands.

05. I bought this Turban style headband from Asos but can't decide if it makes me look like an idiot or not. Keeps my ears toasty warm though!

06. More food porn, and what I thought was just an ordinary muffin that turned out to be chocolate orange heaven. Beautiful!

Face Atelier Ultra Foundation

Sigma Round Top Synthetic Kabuki F82, Face Atelier Ultra Foundation #1 Porcelain

Despite owning more foundations than most would think humanly possible, I've recently found myself in a bit of a rut, not having a favorite that I automatically go to everyday. I love my Estée Lauder Double Wear, but its too heavy for a long day at work. Illamasqua Skin Base gives such a beautiful finish but mine's completely the wrong colour, and my most recent purchase, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua just wasn't cutting it with the coverage. So one night on a whim I decided to order Face Atelier Ultra, a foundation thats been sitting in the back of my mind for well over a year now.

I think Face Atelier is a pretty unheard of brand. I only managed to find it online which isn't exactly the best place to match yourself to the perfect colour. Luckily being white as a ghost I always need the palest shade so it was an easy choice. The foundation itself is an absolute dream. To me it's the perfect combination of all the greats out there. It's lightweight but full coverage, and dewey but long lasting. It really does feel just like skin.

I also ordered the Sigma round topped kabuki which has now become my favorite foundation brush. I've used flat top brushes in the past, which I still love, but this rounded one makes it a lot easier to get into all the little nooks of the face, whilst still giving a completely flawless finish.

I think the true test of how much I like this foundation is the fact that I haven't strayed away from using it for over two weeks now, something pretty much unheard of! Its a little bit pricy at £32, but you can order samples from the website for next to nothing, which I really recommend!

Tweed

Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Coat: New Look
Necklace: Forever 21
Nail Wraps: Nail Rock via Glossybox

I love this time of year when its so cold outside the more layers the better, but now its getting dark so early it's becoming hard to take good outfit photos, so sorry for the lack of them!

I finally found my perfect winter coat in New Look this week. I've wanted a blazer style coat for a while now and had my heart set on this one from Topshop, but when I tried it on it absolutely swamped me! Luckily though I saw this almost identical one for a quarter of the price and grabbed it right away.

The nail wraps I talked about in my last post are still going strong, although the urge to peel them off is getting to me! I was a bit sceptical when I first saw these but after trying them out they really do last a long time and look great. The only problem is I think I change my nails too often to not get bored of having the same thing on them for so long!

Finally, I announced the winner of my Models Own giveaway on Twitter earlier today. Thank you so much to everyone that entered and well done to Sophie who won!

November GlossyBox

Illamasqua Freak Eau De Parfum / Nail Rock Designer Nail Wraps / Philip Kingsley Elasticizer / Dead Sea Spa Magik Delicate Boosting Mask
Arbonne Ultra Hydrating Hand Crème

Glossy Box Time again and two products really stood out for me this month. I let out a little scream of excitement when I saw the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, which I received a sample of in my Feel Unique box back in August. I fell in love with it then but couldn't bare to part with over £20 for the full size, but now I have another wonderful sample to tide me over for the next month or so. Since I tend to backcomb my hair to within an inch of its life on a daily basis, its usually not in such a brilliant state. I've invested a lot of money in hair masks and treatments in the past, but the Elasticiser is the only one I've ever noticed make a visible difference.

I let out a bit of a sigh when I saw nail wraps making their second Glossy Box appearance, (remember the hideous neon yellow ones?) but after deciding to give them a go last night I actually really like them. Awful quality twitter photo here. They were pretty easy to put on, just like stickers really, but the ends are a bit scraggly and have already started to peel. I put a few layers of top coat over them which seemed to stick them back in place so hopefully they'll last a week as the packet claims. Another downside is you only get enough for one full set of nails. A couple of odd sizes got left over which I suppose could be used as an accent nail but for nearly £7 a pack I think its a lot to pay for something thats definitely not going to last very long!

Overall, a bit of a blah box again. I hope Glossy Box start including more make up as I've got six months worth of skin care samples I've barely made a dent in sitting in my bathroom cupboard now. Looking forward to the special Christmas box in December though so fingers crossed!

17 Magnetized Nail Varnish

17 Magnetized Nail Polish - Lilac & Gun Metal

Can I just start by saying what an ordeal it was to get these nail varnishes! Every time I went into Boots they were either out of stock or all the bottles had been opened and used. Aren't people lovely. However, I finally walked in one day and they were there, freshly unpacked and ready for me! I wanted to get all the colours really but talked myself out of it in the end because as lovely as these are, I'm not sure how often I'm going to wear them.

Along with the rest of the blogging world I've been lusting after the Nails Inc Magnet Effects polish for so long now, but really couldn't justify the price. These from 17 we're only £5.99 which I thought was a much better price and probably not a whole lot of difference in the product.

I got Lilac and Gun Metal which I'm wearing together here. Photos don't really do the effect justice as in real life its pretty amazing. I worked out after a few failed attempts that the easiest way to apply is to paint a thin layer without using the magnet, let it dry, then do a second coat and quickly hover the magnet over the nail for a few seconds. You have to work pretty fast with these before they dry so it takes a bit of practice but I love the end result, so unique. I hope they bring these out in other colours. I'd love to see some pastels!

Benefit Lipscription

Dr Feelgood Lipscription Buffing Lip Beads & Silky Lip Balm

I've become a bit of a lip balm hoarder at the moment and can't seem to stop myself buying them despite having millions. Benefit's Lipscription has been around for years, but after someone at work telling me it was going to be discontinued I felt I had a duty to buy it.

I've never seen an actual lip scrub before so that really intrigued me too, especially as in the winter months my lips tend to suffer from a lot of chaps and dryness. It feels quite strange buffing away at your lips with an exfoliator but the results are lovely. The lip balm is beautiful too, definitely a new favorite knocking Blistex Relief Cream, which pales out my lips far too much, off the top spot. You only need the smallest ammount of this and its the perfect balance between moisturising but not greasy.

Next on the list of lip balm purchases has to be the Lush Whipstick, after seeing Charlene's post about it. Belgian chocolate for your lips? Amazing!
