The New Beauty Additions

This month like many others I've done a little splurging on beauty products and have a few new additions to welcome into the crowd. From some new spring cheek products to a heavy duty SPF and even a perfume I vowed never to purchase, here's what's made it into my shopping basket.

The New Healthy Mix

I'm pretty sure I could count on less than one hand the amount of lower end 'drugstore' foundations that I actually get along with. I'm no snob when it comes to make up but premium brands are always the ones I turn to with confidence for a flawless base.

This Week #44

01. Costa and Doughnuts for Breakfast | 02. If it were bookshops vs. beauty halls I'm pretty sure books would win every time | 03. A mini BB Surf Spray, adorable! | 04. Some seriously holographic heels in Next | 05. Daisy Cupcakes from

The Spring Edit: Nails

After nearly a week of consecutive sun (touch wood) I think we can safely say Spring has arrived! The beauty wardrobe deserves a seasonal revamp and the first port of call for me is always nails. Ten little fragments of colour that give noting but hope for warmer weather. The big dilemma however is pastels or brights? I've picked five of my favourites in each category that will definitely be adorning my nails over the coming weeks.

The Lip Crayon Roundup

The Lip Crayon seems to be the height of popularity at the moment with brands bringing them out left right and center. From the glossy to the matte, well pigmented to sheer formulas there seems to be one to suit every preference and in the absolute sea of these lip products I've picked out three of my favourites.

Cult Beauty Wishlist

Ying Yang Rollers Jade Facial Roller: Hailed as the gym workout for the face, this funky looking roller brings the healing properties of jade to the skin to help the lymph system expel toxins. I'm itching to get my hands on one of these if for nothing other than de-puffing those morning eye bags which it is also highly reccomended for.

Jouer Replenish & Protect Hydrating Bronzer: Jouer are a brand that have been popping up on my radar quite frequently of recent, however their products are super hard to come across. Not only does this powder serve as the perfect honey toned bronzer, it also contains a hefty SPF 39 and helps keep the skin hydrated and stop any pesky drying that some other chalky bronzers can cause.

Sachajuan Ocean Mist: Somewhere inbetween a hairspray and salt spray this elegant looking little bottle is famed for adding grip and hold to a style without a crispy or 'over done' looking edge. It also bulks up hair thats on the thinner side and would be great for banishing that limp and lifeless 'just washed' feeling that my hair is so very prone to. Think Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray meets a can of Elnett.

Fig+Yarrow Cardamon + Coffee Body Scrub: I may not be the biggest bath person but theres nothing I enjoy more than a steamy hot shower (oh err!) and a good body scrub to invigorate my skin. The combination of Cardamon and Coffee sounds like an intoxicating bomb of heaven and with sugar granules and Cocoa and Shea butters to soften surely it can do no wrong. Again this one targets the lymphatic system, this time with the benefits of coffee which is well known to kick that ahem.. cellulite we all dread come summer.

Jouer Lip Sheer in Capri: The colour of this lipstick alone would have me swayed but the sheer consistency is something I love to wear in the summer. Loaded with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera this lip colour and balm hybrid gives just a hint of colour and a veil of glossiness.

Fig+Yarrow Pink Love Salts: I say I'm not a bath person, but could anyone say no to something with that name? I have it on good authority that bath salts are the new thing (according to Miss Bath Queen herself, ViannaDoesMakeup) drawing out impurities you never even know you had and softening the skin deep down. These fragrant Pink Love Salts contain essential oils of Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Bergamot, Orange, Geranium and Black Pepper which all come together to turn your bathroom into a 'sensual boudoir of ambiance'. I'll take one to go please!

Things I Want This Week #13

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Really loving everything alphabet/letter print at the moment and this oversized sweat shirt would look perfect with Topshop's new hight waisted Joni jeans and some chunky gold and neon jewellery. I've actually had a pair of fake Converses for a while now and I've gotten so much wear out of them the soles are falling apart! That's what you get for paying £7 in Primark for shoes.. I think I need to invest in a real pair as I love the laid back edge they give to an outfit.

Things I Want This Week #12

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

As much as I love the deep colours and vast layers of winter I'm already looking ahead to spring fashions (despite having quite a while to go yet..) I honestly can't wait for it to be appropriate to start wearing pastels again and I think my standard outfit this year is definitely going to include some serious tailored trousers and crisp accessories. I'm absolutely smitten with Topshop's Debutant Collection (which shamefully 90% of the above items are from) and sure I'll be picking out as many bits and pieces over the coming weeks as I can get my hands on!

Christmas Wishlist

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

01. These Cath Kidston tins are so adorable, I think they'd be perfect for putting jewellery and make up bits in rather than stationary.

02. I've been loving all of Diptyque's scents for so long now, but still have yet to decided which my favourite is. I love the idea of this little travel set to try out the fragrances for before making the big purchase of a full sized perfume.

03. Another Diptyque item on the list! I think Pomander optimises the smell of all things Wintery and festive, perfect for this time of year.

04. I was so against iPads when they came out, but ever since buying one for Darren last Christmas (and 'borrowing' it rather frequently) I've really wanted one of my own! Since trying out the mini version in the Apple store I think it would be perfect for catching up with blogs and writing posts on the go.

05. I love the idea of anything that helps aid sleep as I never seem to be able to nod off no matter how tired I am. The Dream Team from This Works contains a soothing pillow spray and a concentrated roll on.

06. I've been desperately wanting this perfume for months now. It's the perfect spicy oriental kind of scent which I love wearing during the winter. Fingers crossed for this one!

What's on your Christmas list?

If Money Were No Object: Avenue 32

Lizzy Disney Envelope Bag, Zara Simon Light Saber Vermeil Ring, Wunderkind Gold Floral Brocade Trousers, Preen Blue Teacup Print Darjeeling Blouse, NO.21 Black Wool Tuxedo Jacket, 3.1 Phillip Lim Black Nancy Oxford Flats, Armenta Midnight Crosses Bangle all via Avenue 32

Although I'll probably never be able to afford a real designer item it can't hurt to make an unobtainable whishlist once in a while. The online boutique Avenue 32 has a host of designers, ranging from well known brands such as Calvin Klein and Giles to the not so heard of but equally brilliant Mother of Pearl and Paper London. The styling is impeccable on the site, all the outfits being put together so well I actually clicked on pieces I wouldn't usually go for (hello gold brocade trousers). I adore the long cuffs on this blouse from Preen and I think paired with the stunningly cut NO.21 Tuxedo Jacket and some tailored trousers, I'd really have myself an outfit worthy of the price tag. The bangle from Armenta is also divine and I'm beyond tempted to splash out of one of the beautiful Bex Rox Friendship Bracelets, so elegant!

Autumn Beauty Wish List

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

01. I'm loving everything Aesop have to offer at the moment despite not even trying anything from their range yet. I'm such a sucker for branding! The Parsley Seed Mask is proving to be quite popular at the moment and I feel like my skin could do with a really deep cleanse.

02. I saw this beautiful dewy cheek colour on the Meg from Lipsofacto (post here) and decided I had to have it (and her skin too please!). I love fresh looking skin in Autumn and a natural toned cream blush is perfect for this.

03. The Bumble and Bumble Texture Creme has been on my list for so long now I think it's time I just bit the bullet. Luckily there's a double discount day coming up at work soon (oh my poor credit card) so there really isn't an excuse to put it off much longer!

04. I'm so much more drawn to a smokey eye in Autumn and think Beauty Marked from MAC would be the perfect deep plum for this.

05 & 06. Stylenomics and Skirting the Issue from Essie's new fall collection. Dark green isn't really my colour when it comes to nails but this was the one I was most drawn to of the new range. Such perfect Autumn shades!

07. I'm not usually one to get excited over the MAC collections and want to buy everything but the new Marilyn Monroe range is just beautiful.

08. I never really jumped on the BB bandwagon as I like a good coverage base, but I've heard so many good things from people about Dr Jart I really want to try this out.

Warehouse AW/12 Wishlist

1, 2, 3, 4

I don't think I can put into words how excited I am that Autumn is just around the Corner and that the season of chunky knits, layering and deep colour palettes will be here soon! It has to be my favourite time to dress for and although we're only half way through summer, supposedly anyway, I'm longing for all things warm and already becoming bored of dresses and bare legs. Warehouse have just unveiled their beautiful AW/12 collection along with a cute video campaign (which you can see below!) and there are so many pieces I can't wait to get my hands on and the ones above are some of my favourites!

Things I Want This Week #10

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

01. There have to be a thousand versions of this coat across the higstreet at the moment from Zara to Primark. I quite like the look of this River Island offering though after seeing it beautifully styled by Lily.

02. I've got quite a thing for River Island at the moment and their new(ish) range of cheap little jewellery pieces are all adorable. These cross earrings are my favourites.

03. First I was obsessed with collar necklaces, now its actual collars! I think this crisp white collar would add so much to even the most plain t-shirt. I've also been eyeing a lilac studded version from Champagne Diamond.

04. Still in love with Origins and still craving this night cream. I still have a tub and a half of Benefit's Total Moisture to use up (even though its lovely!) before I can allow myself to buy this. Sad face.

05. It's that time of the year once again when I'm after the perfect pair of winter boots. I might just cave and actually buy the Office Nighthawks as they are ridiculously beautiful after all!

Things I Want This Week #09

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

01. I must go through at least one denim jacket a year when summer comes around but I love the studded detail on this Topshop one.

02. Falling more and more in love with rose gold as the days go by, justification being I need things to go with my watch (which I really should show you properly. Would anyone like to see a post on that?). I may have already bought this.

03. Finally a decent dupe of the infamous American Apparel Disco Pants! After being indecisive for months and eventually forbidding myself to spend £70 on a pair of trousers I'm glad I waited as these look just as good to me.

04. I'm not a big lipstick wearer but there's always something about Topshop's colours that make me want to buy them all, this bright orange one called 'Firecracker' especially.

05. My make up just isn't staying where it should in this heat, so I asked you all on twitter a while back to recommend me a good primer and this one came out on top. I love Philosophy's products and am quite surprised I haven't bought this already. I'm sure it'll be going straight in the basket on my next trip to Boots.

Things I Want This Week #07

1, 2, 3

01. I fell in love with this dress as soon as I saw it on Lucy's blog and am currently on a mission to make it mine. I don't think I've ever owned anything this red before but the hearts and the mesh and just pretty much everything about it make me drool!

02. Steamcream has been around for a while now and has various awards to its name, but I never really understood what was so special about it. It claims to be the ultimate moisturiser containing natural ingredients fused together with steam which can be used on the face, body and hands. If anything I'd buy it for the amazing little tins which it come in literally hundreds of designs. Its also available on BuyaPowa at the moment for as low as £8.95!

03. This ice cream necklace might just be the cutest thing ever if it wasn't for the price!

4/29/2012

Things I Want This Week #06

1, 2, 3, 4

01. I finally got round to using the Benefit B.right miniatures I bought a few weeks ago and although they didn't last long, I loved them all! This moisturiser was definitely the stand out product but at £26.50 I'm a little hesitant to give in and buy the full size.

02. I've been seeing these funny little lip balms popping up everywhere recently and I think the flavour lemon drop would be perfect for summer. Not that I need any more lip balms!

03. Desperatley want to get my cartilage pierced but until I can pluck up the courage to subject myself to that kind of pain these Topshop ear cuffs would do the job very nicely.

04. I can't seem to say no to anything mint these days! I've actually tried this on a few times and keep putting it back as its quite scandalously sheer but still so lovely.

4/08/2012

Things I Want This Week #05

1, 2, 3, 4

01. I'm not quite sure what I'd wear this with but pastels, tie dye and a drop hem all wrapped into one make this skirt pretty much perfect in my eyes.

02. After seeing this gracing Anna's lovely nails I think Essie's Absolutely Shore would be the perfect edition to my ever growing mint collection.

03. I had these sunglasses years ago and recently stumbled across a pretty cheap and cheerful pair on ebay. Trying not to give into temptation and buy every colour!

04. Another pastel themed item. I don't usually like white leather bags but the beading on this is just beautiful.

3/11/2012

Things I Want This Week #04

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

A little snap shot of what I hope this summer will bring. Pastels, prints and cat eye sunglasses, all topped off with the most beautiful coral lipstick I've seen in a long time. Definitely need to buy this one before it sells out for good!

2/26/2012

Things I Want This Week #03

Topshop Dress, MAC Harmony Blush, Asos Swallow Bag, Soap & Glory Juicy Peaches Lip Balm, Marc By Marc Jacobs Rose Gold Watch

01. I think we've all been drooling over the new Mary Katrantzou for Topshop collection and after seeing this dress practically everywhere I feel like I need it in my life. Unfortunatley thought the whole collection bar one scarf is sold out online and at £350 for this one item alone, I don't think my bank balance will quite stretch that far.

02. I've heard this is really great as a contouring colour. I usually use my Chanel Tan de Soleil but I find that if I haven't got a bit of fake tan on it's better off just used as a bronzer as its slightly too warm for my skin tone.

03. I saw this bag and immedietly thought it would be perfect for Summer. All these pastel colours and shorter lengths are really growing on me, even if I'll always be an Autumn girl at heart!

04. You should already be aware of my obsession with lip balms and when I see a new one I really can't help but want it. I hear this Soap & Glory one smells amazing!

05.I've been lusting after a Michael Kors watch for years now and recently I've been loving rose gold everything. I tried a few on the other day and as lovely as they were they all seemd so big and 'blingy' for my wrists! This Marc Jacobs alternative is just as pretty and looks a little smaller.

2/11/2012

Things I Want This Week #02

Diptyque Philosykos & Vetyverio, Asos Tooth Necklace, Asos Band Rings, New Look Aztec Shorts

01. These two might be slightly odd to have on a wish list as I've never actually smelt them! I've been seeing them pop up a lot on Tanya Burr's favourites in the last couple of months and it was on her recommendation that I found my favourite perfume of all time, Chanel Chance eau Fraiche, so I trust her opinion a lot! I think these fragrances look quite elegant as well, and what's one more to add to the ever mounting collection!

02. A cheaper variation of the Galibardy tooth necklace I've been wanting for a while which is now sold out on the UK website! You can always trust Asos for a less expensive knock off!

03. Speaking of Asos knock offs, we've all lusted after the hopelessly priced Maison Martin Marrgiela knuckleduster-esque rings at some point. Now we can have them on our fingers for a mere £8.00!

04. It seems like so long since I wore shorts but as I was browsing through a few websites today these really stood out to me as being the perfect pair for Summer. Can't believe I'm saying that while looking through the window at snow!

Things I Want This Week

Urban Outfitters Letter Watch, Asos Swallow Collar Tips, O.P.I Nail Envy, Topshop Speckle Jumper, Benefit Moon Beam

01. I'm really into wearing watches at the moment and already have a lovely one from UO which you've probably seen me wearing in most recent outfit posts, but I saw this on the website the other day and kicked myself for not getting it instead seeing as it's a little bit more personalised!

02. I've been after the perfect pair of collar tips for so long, and really like these swallow ones which are a little different to the other plain ones that I've seen.

03. This has been raved about by a lot of people recently, and although it's shockingly expensive for what's basically a nail strengthener, I've made a resolution to take better care of my stumpy little nails and try to grow them beyond the end of my fingers this year!

04. I love these kind of slouchy jumpers that can be thrown on with a pair of jeans and worn really casually, or dressed up with a buttoned up shirt underneath.

05. I think Moon Beam gets a little overlooked when it comes to the Benefit highlighters. I use High Beam a lot but at the moment I'm finding it a little bit too icy bright for my skin. I tried this at the Benefit counter a few days ago and its actually a really beautiful golden shimmer with a pinky pearl running through it. Also, since hearing that they're now discontinuing it and bringing out Sun Beam (which I'll also add to the wish list) I have to have it before it's gone forever!

12/12/2011

Wishlist #08

1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . 5 . 6

01. My favorite from the Model's own Beetlejuice collection. It was between this and Pinky Brown. Not sure if I like any of the others though. Also, could then not have given them better names?

02. I've heard this stuff is amazing and I've always wanted to try something from Korres. You can never have too many lip balms!

03. How good do the Topshop nail art pens look? They seem to be more of like a felt tip than a nib that the polish comes out of, like the Models Own WAH ones. Really want to try these!

04. Love all these slipper style shoes around at the moment, especially the much coveted Topshop Vectra's which seem to be sold out everywhere. These River Island leopard ones would make a good substitute though.

05. I never wear bracelets but I saw this dainty little cross bangle on Asos the other day which I've been thinking about buying all week.

06. A little bit of a guilty pleasure, and I have no idea what I'd wear with them, but I DESPERATELY want some aztec leggings!

10/27/2011

Winter Coat Wishlist

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

I've been putting off buying this years winter coat for a while now as it still only October and I'm sure in a few months time the shops are going to be full of them, but its getting so cold and dark now I don't think I can wait much longer. Trying to decided whether to go for a traditional coat, or an oversized blazer style after seeing Kate from Ghostparties teaming hers with a faux fur stole and pretty much making my ultimate winter coat by doing so. I really like the two neck tie style ones from Topshop but I think they'd have to be fully done up to look right, and I'd like to have to option of wearing it open. So much indecision over a coat! Ahh! Has anyone else bought theirs yet?

Beauty Wishlist

Chanel Tan de Soleil / Xen-Tan Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe / Illamasque Nail Varnish - Force
Moroccan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner / Chanel Mat Lumiere / Mac Lipstick - Hue

There are hundreds of products that I'd love to run out and buy right away, but I've managed to narrow it down to just a few that, come next payday, will probably be making their way into my life.

I've wanted the Chanel Tan de Soleil for years now, and actually feel like a bit of an idiot for not buying it already seeing as everyone and their mum has one. Also from Chanel, their Mat Lumiere foundation which I hear that along with Pro Lumiere, is now being discontinuing? Quite interested to see the combination of the two that they'll be bringing out, but seeing as I may never be able to get my hands on it again, I think I'm going to have to get this one asap.

The Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner technically shouldn’t be on here as I've already bought them (oops!), but they still haven't arrived yet even though I ordered them over a week ago. That’s what you get for not paying any P&P; I guess! My hair is in such horrible condition at the moment, not that there’s anything new there, but since I've been using the Moroccan oil it’s been feeling a lot better, and the smell is amazing. I know there are a lot of other cheaper alternatives out there but I really believe that in most cases you pay for what you get, and as heartbreaking as it is to hand over £30 for a shampoo and conditioner, it really should be worth it.

I still love my Garnier Summer Body, which I use religiously, but I've been getting a little sick of waking up with the tell tell fake tan smell that even something as light as a gradual tanner comes with. I've wanted to try Xen-Tan for a long time now and after trawling through reviews, this one seems to come out on top for not smelling like a biscuit!

A few other little bits as well from Mac and Illamasqua. Hue, which I'm sure you've all seen a million times and a nail varnish which I think might finally put an end to my search for the perfect electric neon blue.
