It's not all that often I get the chance rock a real 'night out' make up, to be honest I'm quite happy sporting a pair of pyjamas by 9pm and sitting down to a good session of Netflix - #grandmalife, but when the occasion strikes just as I will always gravitate towards my uniform of an all black outfit, Whistles Rivington Chain Pouch and a pair of Asos pointy heels, the same goes for my make up staples - a handful of options I know will see me through the night.
NARS Sheer Glow will always be my foundation of choice when I'm aiming for perfect skin - I like to team it with the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer too for extra longevity, and that added bonus of the SPF free formula means I won't be looking any paler than I already am (who would have thought that was possible?) if flash photography comes into play. Blush is the one thing I don't worry too much about if I'm wearing more make up than usual but I am partial to sculpting myself out some cheekbones - or very faint ones at least and I'm still yet to come across a better contour than the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder, although Illamasqua's Hollow is definitely tempting me at the moment if only I could find it in stock somewhere!
On a day to day basis I really don't have the time or patience for pigments, but Ilamasqua's Pure Pigment in Ore always gets brought out for an evening look. I can't help but want to throw on a bit of sparkle and the finely milled glitter particles in this warm golden bronze shade pick up the light beautifully without looking too over the top. Liquid liner is another product that's not included as frequently in my everyday routine as it used to be, but I'll always slick on at least a thin line of Bourjois Liner Feutre for extra definition, or even a full cat eye flick if I fancy something more dramatic. I've been having a bit of a spree with new mascaras recently, but it's the trusty old Clinique High Impact Extreme that will guarantee full, long thick lashes without the need for falsies - one thing I just can't seem to master and probably never will!
I'm a red lip girl through and through and always think a bright bold pout adds the finishing touches to an evening look. In my eyes the Hourglass Opaque Rouge in Riviera may just be the perfect orange red and the lasting power is something to be reckoned with - even if all your make up dissolves away this will remain on your lips until it's forcefully removed. One slight snag is the application which I've always found to be a little tricky. A thin layer is all you need to avoid product overload so teaming it with a lip pencil first to trace out a rough shape - I like MAC's Redd, makes for an easier one swipe application.
All that's left is a quick spritz of Diptyque Vetyverio, a deep musky scent with a hint of freshness which I will always be seen sporting in the evening and I'm ready to go!
